This prototype features character trait bars that will fluctuate up and down depending on the choices the player makes in the game. The character trait bars are Noble, Daring, Assertive, and Generous. This prototype is being built for anyone at least 18 years of age from any background, that can read and speak English. This prototype seeks to explore how a user interface indicating character trait bars can affect a players empathy and decision making in a text-based game. We hope to understand better what other features in games can potentially influence how a player feels while playing a game, and how that may affect what choices they make. The UI specs for this tech would on a computer, Mac or PC. The user will only need to use the mouth for clicking. The size of the monitor can vary, but ideally it would display best on a smaller screen such as a laptop, around 11-15 inches. The character trait bars will be displayed on the left side of the screen, while the text for the game will appear on the right side. Buttons under the games text will indicate the player’s choices.
