Methodology:

First we must define empathy, and then create a standard base scale for measuring participants empathy before testing. A potential test for this may be  the Multidimensional approach to individual difference in empathy, created by Mark H. Davis (http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.462.7754&rep=rep1&type=pdf) or  the Empathy Quotient test (60 item questionnaire for measuring empathy in adults). https://www.autismresearchcentre.com/arc_tests.

Experimental group (with UI elements) vs Control group (no UI elements). Qualitative data/qualitative data – Likert scale for measuring changes in empathy, recording what decisions participants made, follow up questionnaire.
